The waiting list for this credit is full. For installations of solar energy equipment on business properties. The credit is equal to 100% of the “Vermont-property portion” of the federal business energy tax credit for solar. In effect, this constitutes a 30% state-level corporate credit, which can be carried five years forward. For corporate filers, the tax credit is valid on systems for which construction commences before December 31, 2010.

Green Mountain Power is offering an incentive of $.06/kWh produced for all net-metered solar electric systems. This is on top of your net-metering credit. This utility will also reimburse you up to $300 for metering expenses. All Vermont utilities will be adopting this incentive in 2012.
This state fund offers loans of $50,000 up to $500,000 or 90% of the total project cost for grid-tied projects over 15kW only. Loan application deadlines are quarterly: January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1. Interest as low as 2%.
Small Scale Renewable Energy Incentive
This incentive is for grid-tied projects smaller than 60kW only up to $110,000. This program is administered by the Renewable Energy Resource Center (RERC).
Technical Assistance Program
This grant program is closed as of Summer 2010. These grants are available to municipalities, public schools, and VT colleges. The maximum grant award is $5,000 and requires a 10% cash match.
